Dan is a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and retired peace officer. Irene brought two decades of healthcare experience. Together they raised three children, welcomed three grandchildren, and spent years riding motorcycles and hiking—including a Southwest motorcycle tour for their honeymoon.
On a brutally hot ride through the Moab area, Dan could not find a hydration product that stayed cold, mounted the way a rider needed, and remained easy to use on the move. Irene encouraged him to build the answer. What followed was a long cycle of prototypes, field testing, and learning exactly how not to make it before the system was ready.
That rider-built solution became ThirstyRock Hydration Gear in 2019.
